Profile: Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania is an interdisciplinary center that integrates art, science and the humanities.  Within its 92 public acres,  thousands of rare and lovely woody plants, including many of Philadelphia's oldest, rarest and largest trees, are set in a romantic Victorian landscape garden of winding paths, streams, and special garden areas.

In 1932, the University of Pennsylvania was entrusted to transform the Morris estate into a public garden and center for research and education.  In 1989, the Morris Arboretum was named the official arboretum of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Profile: The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1827, motivates people to improve the quality of life and create a sense of community through horticulture. The Society provides a place where all greening enthusiasts --novice gardeners, experienced horticulturists, and purely-for-pleasure observers--can pursue their own particular horticultural interests.

PHS produces and manages a variety of shows, competitions, and programs, including the Philadelphia Flower Show, the largest indoor flower show in the world. PHS also offers a Kids Grow Expo, the City Gardening Series as well as the City Gardens Contest each year. Proceeds from the Philadelphia Flower Show support PHS's programs, including neighborhood and public landscape greening projects through Philadelphia Green.   PHS offers services that include a library, and various PHS publications.
